These homemade fruit popsicles are the perfect dessert for the 4th of July with their red, white, and blue hues! Not to mention fun – these fresh fruit popsicles are sure to make your taste buds happy. The red, white, and blue popsicles you find at the store are loaded with artificial colors and ingredients, but these real fruit popsicles are all natural and only made with 4 ingredients. And they taste so much better, too. I am super excited to share how to make fruit popsicles with you!

When you think about it, I guess the blue is more of a purple, but did you know there’s no natural occurring true blue fruit? I used wild blueberries that are much darker than normal ones, so if you use regular ones, the color will probably be lighter. Either way, you’ll enjoy these all summer long.

How To Make Fruit Popsicles With Fresh Fruit

The hardest part of making these homemade fruit popsicles is waiting for them to freeze.

Homemade fruit popsicles ingredients are super simple: strawberries, blueberries, coconut milk, and agave.

Have a look at these super easy steps for how to make fruit popsicles:

  • Blend strawberry layer. Blend together strawberries and agave. Pour the strawberry mixture into the popsicle mold. Freeze for 1 hour.
  • Add coconut layer. Pour in a layer of coconut milk over the strawberry layer. Freeze for an additional hour.
  • Blend blueberry layer. Blend together blueberries and agave. Pour into the popsicle mold.
  • Place a popsicle stick into the center of the popsicles. Freeze for at least 4 hours.

After patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for the fresh fruit popsicles to freeze, you are ready to eat them! This kid-approved treat is just what you need to celebrate the summer holidays.

Fresh Fruit Popsicles Variations

Guess what?! You don’t have to limit your homemade fruit popsicles to red, white, and blue popsicles! You can add in all kinds of fun flavors. Here are a few ideas for you to try this summer:

  • Limes
  • Kiwi
  • Peaches
  • Watermelon
  • Honeydew
  • Raspberries
  • Blackberries

How Do You Get Popsicle Out Of The Mold?

When making healthy fruit popsicles, you may find yourself wondering how to get the fruit pop out of the mold. Sometimes you get fortunate and the just slide right out. Other times, you have to put a little bit of effort into getting the healthy homemade popsicles to come out of the mold.

Once you try each of the methods for removing the frozen fruit popsicles, you will develop a favorite way. Here are some ideas to try:

  • Always make sure that the top of the popsicle mold is clean when you place it in the freezer. Otherwise, the fruit popsicles are even more likely to stick. Wipe the molds down with damp washcloth or paper towel before freezing.
  • Place the container in a bowl of warm water for a few seconds. The warm water needs to be in something that is almost as tall as the popsicle mold is. Don’t let it sit in the water longer than 30 seconds. This will help loosen the homemade popsicles up.
  • If your mold covers your fruit popsicles individually, you can place the mold directly under running warm water. It works the same was as the previously mentioned bowl method, but for me works faster. This is my favorite method!
  • Allow the homemade fruit popsicle container to sit on the counter for a few minutes. The dairy-free fruit popsicles will start to melt just a little bit then you can easily pull them out of the popsicle mold.

Are Red, White, And Blue Popsicles Healthy?

Yes, these red, white, and blue popsicles are very healthy! They are made with fruit and coconut milk and sweetened with agave. Here is a breakdown of some of the nutrients you get from these delicious healthy popsicles.

  • Strawberries – Vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin K, vitamin A, iron.
  • Blueberries – Magnesium, vitamin C, potassium, folate, fiber, vitamin K, and vitamin A.
  • Coconut Milk – Protein, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin C, and magnesium.

How Long Are Homemade Popsicles Good For?

Homemade fruit popsicles will last anywhere from 6-8 months in the freezer. I doubt they’ll last that long, though! 😉

How To Store Homemade Fruit Popsicles

Always store the homemade fruit popsicles in the freezer until you are ready to serve.

After they have frozen solid in the mold, you can leave them there if it’s airtight. Otherwise, you can take them out of the popsicle mold and place them in a freezer-safe storage bag or another airtight container.
